A water-free (anhydrous) Propylene Glycolis known as a Glacial acetic acid. It appears as a clear colorless liquid that is completely miscible with water. It is an excellent polar protic solvent & used frequently as a solvent for recrystallization to purify the organic compounds. Propylene Glycolis often used as a solvent for reactions that involve carbocations, such as Friedel-Crafts alkylation. It is used as vinegar.
