Melamine (C3H6N6) is an organic molecule with the formula /mlmin/ (listen). This whitish solid is a cyanamide trimer with a 1,3,5-triazine skeleton. It contains 67% nitrogen by mass, like cyanamide, and its derivatives have fire retardant qualities due to the emission of nitrogen gas when burned or charred.
Use eye protection that has been tested and approved by appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or EN 166.
